COLLOQUIUM 570
Multiscale analysis of the impact of microstructure on plasticity and fracture in interface-dominated materials

20 October — 23 October 2015, Houffalize, Belgium

Scientific Program

The sessions will be focused on the mechanisms of deformation and fracture in interface dominated metallic materials and will mix theorical, experimental and/or modelling contributions to allow cross fertilization. By interface dominated metallic materials, we have in mind systems like ultrafine grained, nanocrystalline, nanotwinned, thin films, nanowires, multilayers, fine multiphase and composites metallic system possibly involving hybrid combinations with polymer, glasses and ceramics.

Session 1 : Keynote presentations by Dr. Frédéric Mompiou , research scientist CNRS (Centre d'Elaboration de Matériaux et d'Etudes Structurales (CEMES), Toulouse, France) and Prof. William A. Curtin (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland)

Session 2 : Keynote presentation by Prof. Christian F. Niordson (Technical University of Denmark)

Session 3 : Keynote presentation by Dr. Dominique Leguillon , Directeur de Recherche Emérite (Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Institut Jean le Rond d'Alembert, Paris, France)

Session 4 : Keynote presentation by Dr. Cem Tasan , Group Leader "Adaptive Structural Materials" (Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung GmbH, Düsseldorf, Germany)

Session 5 : Keynote presentation by Prof. Harry Bhadeshia (University of Cambridge, UK)
